business planA business plan is an essential road map for business success. That is why it is very important to have it written before you start doing your business. Remember, you cannot proceed to step 2 without taking the step 1.

Here are five other business plan writing tips I’ve found useful during my career:

Be concise: Remove any filler language as always as possible. You have to be concise with your business plan. Even if it sounds nice, fluff gets you nowhere and wastes space. Plus, no investors want to read a long business plan. Get to the point straightaway.

Be realistic: In writing your business plan, you have to be honest within yourself. You have to consider the challenges and risks that you may encounter and the solutions you have prepared for it. If you’ve got a strong idea, let it stand on its merit.

Show you’re conservative: Everyone claims they’re “conservative” in their business plans, but most aren’t. You should be. Use examples to demonstrate that you’re conservative in your approach and projections.

Use Visuals: If possible, use visuals to properly describe your plans but remember not to overuse it. Graphs, charts, and images can help bring your concept to life. Plus, it breaks up the text and helps a plan flow better.

Be creative: To stand out and gets someone’s attention, you have to use a creative element on your plan. You can use templates, but don’t look identical to a template. Do something extraordinary or unique to make the plan yours.
